Take Bus #319, from Port Authority, which has a transfer to Bus #552 at Atlantic City. This gets you directly to the Cape May Welcome Center, walkable to most of the major hotels, shops, and restaurants. The nearest airports are Atlantic City (45 min away) and Philadelphia (2 hours away). From there, you can rent a car or see “By Public Transit” for other options!
